CLASS PLACEMENT POLICY
Students are placed in classes according to their level of ability. Misplacement of students slows classes and causes a certain amount of tension for all concerned. Dance training involves not just a technical aspect, but an emotional, biological mental aspect as well and seldom do these all pull together at the same time for every student, nor are they categorizable into little slots. What is taught as well as the speed and/or difficulty in which the class is taught varies from level to level and teacher to teacher. A student may be moved to a different class if after evaluation the teacher finds that the student is not in the proper class for his or her ability.
CONDUCT
All students and parents are expected to respect and willingly abide by all studio rules and procedures and conduct themselves in a courteous manner in the studio and all studio connected activities.
CLASS OBSERVATION
Parents may observe classes on observation dates which are announced in the monthly newsletter. An informed parent is the key to an enjoyable dance season for all.
CLASS CANCELLATION
Cancellation of classes due to inclement weather will be broadcasted on WKBW TV as well as the studio answering machine. Never assume that the dance school is closed. When in doubt call first to avoid an unnecessary absence from class.
PARENT’S RESPONSIBILITY
- It is the responsibility of parent or guardian to be aware of all studio activities such as observation days, recital rehearsals, extra classes and school closing dates; check the bulletin board regularly; pick up a newsletter each month (located on the table below the bulletin board) and inform the studio of any address or telephone change.
- It is the parent’s responsibility to inform the studio office manager, NOT THE TEACHER, if you wish to drop your child from class. Do not assume that the studio will assume your child has dropped.
- Parents are responsible for their own child’s safety while on our premises. Miss Barbara’s School of Dance is only responsible for your child while under our supervision in class. Students are not to be left unattended for excessive time before or after class.
- Refrain from negative attitudes and comments in the studio and studio connected activities.

Taking great pride in the progress of our students we set out to achieve the total experience and fulfillment of dance by presenting our students in an exciting and moving annual production. The year’s work is brought to an exciting climax as students feel the magical thrill and glow of dance on-stage. Students earn their placement in recital classes based on class attendance, cooperation, attitude toward dance discipline, home practice, parent commitment and involvement, compliance with all recital requirements including deadlines for all fees and mandatory rehearsals. Any student who falls below the class level will be placed into a non-recital class. When a student is absent, late or quits, it affects the entire class. If a student misses more than 3 classes without a written notice from a physician, the teacher reserves the right to deny student’s participation in the class recital performance and there are no refunds of fees.
